Music Teacher of the Year Award

The Alton Symphony Orchestra is proud to announce our newest Educational Outreach Program. The Music Teacher of the Year Award was created to help belay the costs of classroom expenses for local music teachers. It is the dream of ASO that music classrooms throughout the area have the supplies, instruments, music, and other tools necessary to allow students and teachers to allow their love of music to grow and enrich their lives.
Teacher Qualifications:

Teacher must be working at the same school for 3 or more years.

Teacher must be a band, orchestra, vocal group, or general music teacher. This award is not for private lesson instructors.

School where the teacher works must be located in Madison, Monroe, Jersey, or St. Claire County in Illinois.
Requirements for submission:

Students and faculty at the school where the teacher works will submit no more than one paragraph each on how their school’s Music Teacher has helped foster a love of music in their students.

Students 15 and under must have a parent or guardian submit their paragraph online.

Submissions will open January 1st and close on January 31st.
Winners:

The committee will make a decision based on merit no later than February 7th. The teacher will be informed by the following week through phone and email. We will request a professional high-quality photo of the teacher for use on our social media pages and website.

The winning teacher will receive a prize of $500 that will go towards classroom purchases, a certificate, and 4 tickets to the scheduled concert in February (different dates depending on the year).
